A recent report states that single stream processing can result in increased glass residue when compared to dual stream processing. Learn how one of the largest recycled glass processors in North America is addressing this issue and creating opportunities with this material. In addition, we will hear about how a state department of transportation agency has developed specifications for the use of triple mix recycled glass for highway construction projects.

Speakers:

Rocksroy C. Bailey, Environmental Scientist, Apex Environmental, Inc.

Mr. Rocksroy Bailey is an Environmental Scientist with Apex’s Environmental Inc. Since November 2001. Mr. Bailey has served as fulltime Recycling Coordinator at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) Strategic Environmental Manager (SEM) Program Office in Harrisburg. His responsibilities as Recycling Coordinator include implementation of the Strategic Recycle Program (SRP) with the goal of increasing the use of recycled materials/products in PENNDOT’s construction and maintenance projects. Associated responsibilities include specification development, communications and outreach, cost tracking, and project monitoring and reporting. Mr. Bailey has a diverse environmental consulting experience and has worked for a variety of government and commercial clients. Mr. Bailey received a BS/BA degree in Environmental Science/Studies from the Southampton College of Long Island University.

Heather Bunn, Regional Sourcing Manager, Strategic Materials Inc.

Heather Bunn has been in the recycling industry since early 1998. She started working with Container Recycling Alliance, which was a partnership with Waste Management and American National Can, specifically handling glass recycling. In 2002, Waste Management became sole owner of the CRA group and along with glass recycling, WM built a large MRF in Raleigh, NC and Heather proceeded to work with multiple recycling commodities while still her main focus was working with the CRA group. In 2006, the CRA group split from WM and became its own company and in 2008 became Strategic Materials, Inc. Heather Bunn is now one of the Regional Sourcing Manager’s for Strategic Materials, Inc. in the

southeast region.
