How to Become a Collection Site

Back to Another Bright Idea Homepage

Hardware stores, public libraries, other businesses and organizations have become collection sites for used fluorescent lamps in Nebraska. Eventually, these sites will form a web of conveniently located recycling centers for fluorescent lamps and other universal wastes, such as rechargeable batteries and mercury thermostats. Once the network is widespread, transportation of these hazardous materials will be part of a regular “milk-run”, making it more cost-effective for all.

It’s easy to become a collection site! First, read the brochure on how to become a collection site, and then read through and fill out the Memorandum of Understanding with WasteCap Nebraska. If you decide to join, send the Memorandum of Understanding to WasteCap Nebraska (find our contact information here).

After joining the program and remitting the required paperwork, you will receive a collection box for CFLs, 5 plastic bag liners for the box, twist ties, a mouse pad, 2 posters, 1 window cling, 2 shelf danglers and other support materials, including an employee safety training power point presentation and branded marketing materials.
