WasteCap Welcomes New Staff

WasteCap Nebraska welcomes new staff members Julie Diegel and John Huffer.

Julie Diegel joins WasteCap as our new Take It Back Nebraska Project Coordinator.  Diegel will be focused on developing a statewide network of retailers to take back used electronics and fluorescent lighting for recycling and proper management.  Ms. Diegel recently worked with the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters and co-chaired Lincoln Earth Day 2009. She brings several years of experience from a variety of interests and roles in the community, including Executive Director of Lux Center for the Arts, administrator of a retirement community, and owner of a landscape maintenance company. Diegel has served on several non-profit boards, and is currently Treasurer of the board for the Haydon Art Center and volunteers as their bookkeeper.

John Huffer joins WasteCap as a Construction & Demolition Waste Management Intern.  Huffer will aid in the development and implementation of a new construction and demolition waste management program.  He is a senior Construction Management major in the Engineering College at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He brings with him experience from: Kiewit Building Group, where he worked on the Air Force Weathering Agency Project at Offut Air Force Base, demolition work on Memorial Stadium on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus for Jensen Lumber Company, and research and development for Nox-Crete, a company that creates chemicals for construction purposes.
