October 8th Green Team Roundtable Features New Organic Waste Recycling Program for Lincoln

WasteCap Nebraska will host a Green Team Roundtable on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 for a presentation on the new organic waste recycling program offered by Nebraska Organic Waste Energy (NOW Energy) and Uribe Refuse Services. The meeting will be held at Ayars & Ayars Inc. at 2436 N 48th Street in Lincoln from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. Registration is required at www.wastecapne.org/greenteams. Cost is $8 for WasteCap members and $10 for non-members, and includes a zero waste lunch.

The Nebraska Organic Waste Resources Project (NOW Resources Project) is Lincoln’s first, and Nebraska’s only single-stream organic waste recycling program.  Designed to maximize recovery of the available energy, nutrients and recyclable materials from about 1,400 tons per year of food scraps, grass clippings, packaging and post-consumer waste, the NOW Resources Project will convert organic waste into renewable electricity, liquid fertilizer, recyclables and other value-added products while also reducing Uribe’s operating costs and emissions.

One of Lincoln’s premiere waste haulers, Uribe Refuse Services is a 3rd generation family-owned and operated company providing quality solid management to commercial and residential customers in Lincoln and surrounding areas since 1976.

Founded in 2012 and armed with 10 years of experience in the industry, NOW Energy specializes in organic waste management and waste conversion technologies for agricultural, commercial, industrial, municipal and residential operations.
