Non-profit agency that provides technical assistance to businesses and communities in Nebraska to increase waste reduction and recycling needs Executive Director to manage organization and staff.  Experience in solid waste management systems, zero waste strategies as well as grant writing and managing staff and projects desired.  Salary is based on experience.   Send resume to [email protected] by October 31. 2016.

Director Position

Responsibilities and Desired Traits

    • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors
    • Ensure that organization stays within approved budget
  • Fundraising and Grant Writing

    • Attract new members, increase participation in training sessions, annual meeting, workshops and conferences
    • Prepare grant applications to local, state and regional funding organizations to fund the general operation of the organization as well as project focused initiatives
    • Track grant expenditures by programmatic area and provide necessary quarterly reports to funders in a timely manner
  • Public Relations/Communication/Advocacy

    • Effective in oral and written communications with individuals and groups
    • Serve as spokesperson for the organization
    • Markets the services of the organization to businesses and communities
    • Prepares on-line and printed on waste reduction and recycling information for communities and businesses
    • Sponsor webinars, workshops and talk and tours to increase knowledge and understanding of waste reduction and recycling opportunities
    • Provide technical assistance and educational services to communities and businesses. this includes but is not limited to:
      • Waste assessment
      • Construction waste management assistance
      • Specific material research on disposal alternatives
      • Research on recycled materials market development opportunities
    • Advocate for policy changes at the community and state level that promote waste reduction, recycling and sustainability

    • Knowledgeable of the solid waste and recycling industry
    • Demonstrate ability to effectively apply knowledge to accomplishing organizational objectives
