Ms. Hakenkamp has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Sociology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and has been involved in recycling and environmental issues for nearly 15 years.  She has been the Director of WasteCap Nebraska since 1998.  In that time, WasteCap has performed over 100 waste assessments for businesses, hosted over 30 workshops and educational tours, and written 12 publications for business recycling.  Ms. Hakenkamp completed an intensive, 9-month Executive Director Leadership Training program offered through the Institute for Conservation Leadership in 2007 and earned certificates in Project Management and Leadership from the Nebraska Business Development Center in 2009.

Chanté Bauer joined WasteCap Nebraska’s staff in September, 2010 to work as an intern for the Take It Back Nebraska program. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor in Arts in History. During school, she studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina for six months. She also wrote a senior thesis entitled A Recipe for the Cold War: An Examination of American Life through Cookbooks, 1945-1960. Since graduation, she worked for Lincoln’s parking office and did Quality Assurance for Epic, a healthcare software company in Madison, WI. She is excited to bring her previous experience and passion for sustainability to her current role at WasteCap Nebraska, where she works to help create and implement Take-It-Back recycling networks throughout the state.

Julie Diegel was hired at WasteCap Nebraska in 2009 to develop and implement a “Take-it-Back Nebraska” program to provide permanent drop-off locations statewide for recycling electronics equipment and fluorescent lamps. In 2011 Diegel earned a “Sustainability Professional Certificate” from the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, headquartered in Portland, Oregon.  As WasteCap’s sustainability consultant, she works with corporate “green teams”, assisting with organizational and project development. She is also in charge of organizing Green Team Roundtables statewide. Previously, Ms. Diegel worked the Nebraska League of Conservation Voters and co-chaired Lincoln Earth Day 2009. She brings several years of experience from many different interests and roles in the community, including Executive Director of Lux Center for the Arts, administrator of a retirement community, and owner of a landscape maintenance company. Diegel has served on several non-profit boards representing the arts and the environment.
